During the late 18 century, Tricorn hats were in demand. The base for this hat (seen on the left) offers large protection from the sun and was suitable for farmers who spent long days in the fields. Later the hat was worn cocked (seen on the right).

Wearing the hat cocked
allowed stylish gentlemen to show off the most current fashions of popular wigs along with their social status. Additionally, a cocked hat was much smaller in size and could easily be tucked under an arm when going inside a building.

Military men work a cockade on their tricorn that would indicate the military or nationality of the government they served.

Please note that our hats are shipped blank (un-cocked as pictured on the left) and without decoration. The brim of this hat is roughly 5" with a 4.5" crown.  Total diameter of the hat will vary based off of hat size.
Medium- 22 1/4", Large- 23", Extra Large-  23 3/4", Extra Extra Large- 24 3/4". If you are planning to cock the hat, please order one size bigger.
